Brooklyn, Queens and a bridge
I crossed the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge for the first time today after picking up a load on Long Island. The bridge connects Long Island and Staten Island and was the longest suspension bridge in the world until 1981 when the Humber Bridge in England was opened. To reach the east end of the bridge I [...]

Where was I?
I am testing out a parallel blog which has very little content. On days when I feel up to it, I simply post a name of a place I passed through or stopped at and I give the temperature. Sometimes I post a picture. You can find at dedwarmo.com/road/. Soon I will update the layout [...]

Move your truck!
Today after fueling my truck I pulled forward to leave room for another truck to use the pump I was at. I went inside to use the loo and when I came out I saw that the driver in the truck at the pump next to mine was waiting for the truck in front [...]

Petersburg, Virginia
I delivered a load of ground rubber in 50 pound bags to Virginia State University’s athletic field. They didn’t have a loading dock so they had to move the pallets to the rear of the trailer and then a fork truck on the ground removed them. With no loading dock, a job that would require [...]

Katy, Texas
What a great name for a town in Texas. Katy, Maine would sound nice too, but there is no Katy, Maine.

Clean shaven
Monday I will be delivering a load to a chemical plant that requires drivers to be clean shaven. I asked another driver why they might have this rule. He said that it was necessary in the event of a plant emergency which would require gas masks. I considered refusing this load so I wouldn’t have [...]
