Charging my phone

Today I walked two miles off the trail (one way) to go to Walmart to buy food. Then I walked a little further to McDonald’s to sit next to an electrical outlet and charge my phone.  I’m trying to cut back on my time away from the trail and one thing I could do is charge my phone less often.  What would you think if I posted to my blog less often?

  1. If you go missing, we will not know it for 5 or more days. So what are you thinking, post every 3 or 4 days? Do you keep the phone off except for taking pictures, posting, and checking the weather?

I’m kicking around the idea of driving up, hiking to you then hike with you for a day. But, I know nothing about the trail, water sources, shelters, etc. What do you think Dave?

    1. That would be cool. I’ll call you and we can discuss towns and hotels, etc. We can do a day-hike so water won’t be an issue.

I left my phone charger at McDonald’s a couple days ago, so I need to use phone sparingly. I keep it turned off mostly.

      1. A change in plans. I received traveling orders today. I leave this weekend the 21st for 3 weeks in sunny, tropical Oklahoma. Sorry Dave, I was starting to plan my AT trip and was about to buy an ultralight tent. I guess I’ll go hike at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge instead.

    1. Thank you for your suggestion, Laura. My pack is heavy enough. I don’t want to use a solar charger. I would rather not use my phone at all while hiking. I only mentioned my phone issues so my family won’t worry if they don’t hear from me.
