Colorful Hat: A Circus Tale

Colorful Hat
I just saw “The Colorful Hat: A Theatrical Circus Tale” at the Carolina Theatre. A custodian dressed in all white coveralls entertained the audience in between performances by acrobats, aerialists and jugglers. The juggling acts included single ball contact juggling, 3 cigar box juggling, 3 ball juggling / bounce juggling, 3 and 4 club solo juggling, and 6 club passing. Also there was a solo aerial ring act, an aerial silk duet, a trapeze duet, and a strongman – acrobat duet. I may have forgotten a couple of acts.

Bill Forchion toured 4 years with Cirque du Soleil’s production “Saltimbanco” as an acrobat and character. He performs the Partner Acrobatics act with his wife, trapezist Serenity Smith Forchion.

The Aerial Fabric Duette is performed by Elsie Smith and Marina Sgambellone.

Jen Slaw has been performing since 1999, and was the 2002 International Jugglers Association Three Ball Open winner.

Tony Duncan has entertained around the world winning awards at the World Juggling Championship, and the Variety Artists World Cup held in Japan.

Elsie Smith and Serenity Smith Forchion toured 4 years as duo-trapezists with the Cirque du Soleil production “Saltimbanco.” In 2003 they founded Nimble Arts, a Vermont based trapeze and Circus School.

They will be performing Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
